Women play a more prevalent role in the film which is very different from the original.
Mowgi is more sophisticated in the film as they end up making tools

The 1960 Context

The 60s was a time of change from a period of conservatism and tradition to a more socialist way of thinking. This change was lead by the new youth culture who held liberal views and challenged the traditional views of currant society and they used civil unrest to challenge these values.

Some of the main values that were fought for were black rights, anti-war and the second wave of feminism. The smaller but still prominent homosexuality, drug use, capital punishment

60s
JFK died- Was very progressive in ideas like anti-war
The Beatles became a cultural icon
the Vietnam war
TV becomes common
MLKJ and Malcolm X-  black civil rights
Contraceptive pill is forged
Hippies emerge

Life in the 1960s was turbulent. There were huge social activism pushes figure headed by the new prevailing youth culture and people like JFK, MLK Muhammad Ali and many others. For youth it was wild, as youth cultures became more defined from the adult world, teens were exploring fashion, music, new polotics and drugs and many took to civil unrest to fight back against conservatism.

The Disney Audience 22/11/23

Disney's Target audience is Families as who is going to take the kids to
the cinema

The 'Family' can be split up to a primary and secondary audience
where the Primary audience are kids from 4-12 and the secondary audience are the parents as the take the kids to the film so if the film also appeals to them the will have more reason to take their kids.

Both of these TA's would be very trusting of disney to produce quality products due to it's longevity and association with quality
The disney brand offered a lot of different products that appealed to both target markets

The adults would be confident in disney to provide those traditional values that the older generation loved in a society that was starting to move away from them.

The monkeys play jazz music. consvercitims

We can see this aim towards families by looking into the ideas that the film gives out.
The whole film encompasses family values of being where you belong. Mogwi had to go back to his people as that where he belonged and was his family.

The different characters are there to appeal to different parts of the TA mogwi and the small elephant are kids so the appeal to kids. Characters like baloo and bagheera appeal to adults

The Narrative of the jungle book tell us that Disney where a perpetuator of traditional 1960s values,
We can see this as mogwi in the end goes back to his village. This idea of staying where you belong alines closy with the ideas of the 1960s as if you look at views on civil rights at the time older people were not a fan of mixing with different people.

In the jungle book the older charcters end up being right.

the representation of king louis tell us about 1960s views on civil rights. King louis character is a charactacure of popular black singer louis armstrong. in the film louis tries to use mogwi to become the top of the jungle. The similarities between the two go on to create the idea that disney believe black people to be exploiters that use others to gain status. The want of status through fire may also suggests that disney believes that black people may try and gain power through force.

In the jungle book men are represented as being superior. This because the only female characters in the film are not major characters and have no speaking lines.

2016 target market

This film attracted a wide range of people, not exclusive to a family audience due to disney's
powerful ability to market a product to many and add value to other audiences.
Characters where re imagined for a modern audience and the change to the narrative  made the film appropriate for the modern age.  The level of cgi used would of goaded those into technology into seeing the film to oogle the new tech.

The subtle hints to the older film, the references to songs and the book at then end would strengthened the sense of nostalgia in the film.

2016 context

Brexit Started
The oscars so white hashtag shed light on the lack of people of colour getting
5 million people fled their homes to try and fight a better life

Disney

Jungle book facts

Over the 50 years of it's existence it has grosed 100billion doll hairs
It was made by disney studios a holly production company renown for it's animated films owned by
walt disnet studios
The disney animation studio is responsible for pioneering traditional cel animation and creating practices that have become industry practice.
The films production utilised specialised techs that became standard practice

The succes of WDS animated films allowed them to eat many other film companies due to money. They know own I.p's like marvel, star wars and Pixar.

Historical context

The film is one of the best written disney films and 2 of the songs were nominated for ocars
The jungles book sound track achieved the status of gold disk, the first animated film to do so
The films cast would of been notable for an audience of the time

Economic context

At the time the disney corp were already diversifying into other avenues such as television, Disney lands and merch. this was done through it's distribution company Buena Vista

The film released in 1967 and costed 4 mill to produced and made 24 million that year

like a catch and release strategy the policed used against the suffragists , Disney released the jungle book in cinemas  about 10 years apart from each other to capitalise on new kids and the nostalgia of older ones.
You could only watch Disney films in the cinema as they wanted to maintain the classic feel of watching a jizzney film.

Disney embraced the technological changes of the times to maintain profit of their older films as when DVD came about they re-released a bunch of their back catalogue, JB included, Then it was released as a blue ray and DVD collection.

Now you can watch it on Disney plus

Industry stuff

Disney uses cross promotion of their films to make them to be more that what they are as when a film releases it's followed up by merch. theme park attractions, Disney characters made appearances on ABC.  Walt was a pioneer of promotion. If you engaged with one Disney product you were likly to come in contact with another

29/11/23

THE MAKING OF THE JUNGLE BOOK

Disney was very included in the production which was un-common for a studio head, he threw out the old story lead and took it apon himself to write the story

Songs in the jungle book serve to progress the story

Walt used People with recogniable voices and made the characters around them
this made the film more memorable as people would go "IT'S THAT GUY"

The vultures were chosen for their resemblance to the beatles, a huge cultural icon

Disney made sure that his films didn't come across as dated, for example the vultures were supposed to sing in a Beatles style however that would of dated the film.
Walt died during the production, the team had to band together to make sure his last film got out

What started Disney was their quality, they become renown for their animated pictures as they were the best their was. After this success disney proceeded to acquire other companies so they had less competition and more revenue coming in, for example Pixar was a competitor to disney for the longest time but when disney won in the box office they bought Pixar. They have also bought companies outside of film, owning a 10% stake in vice media, all of abc and even a private jet company to fly around their executives. This mass ownership allows disney to gain an unreasonable amount of money and lower the cost of any production expense.

The Biggest thing that they have done reactently is disney plus which aruably has resulted in a loss of money. Streaming has massive affected the film industry as people don't go to cinemas to watch films. Films are also no longer an exclusive product so people will watch them whenever rather than at one point

When a disney film releases it's not just the film that comes out. along side will come marketing materials, merchandise, and now ways to interact with the IP through things like social media.
Later down the line the film may be released or if it's really old re made.
In some cases films have been turned into new media such as games or TV series.

Disney have a cult following and people go crazy for it

1/12/23 The Film Industry: how it do and how it change?

Before Digital, filming was an arduous process in many ways.
Film was not an easy material to work with. each canister could only go for 10 minets and it took one
day for the film to be processed into something viewable.
This meant that every take had to be perfect and anything less would be a waste of time and money, and production would be a lot slower. Film also had to be worked on manually, to cut footage the physical film had to be cut and stuck back together. Editing as a whole was a compleltly different process. one of the major steps was setting the RGB values to look real as possible because film shot on black and white.

Digital video has solved this issue as an SD card can hold hours of footage and cameras now have instant play back meaning production can run a lot faster. Some argue that this can make people more lax and not feel like they have to their everything.
Editing now is all digital but in some cases takes longer. certain VFX relies on extremely talented people to work days on getting it to look right or real. Some films rely to much on VFX like CGI, just look at marvel.

Digital has also changed other parts of the film industry. now films are just sent to the cinemas digitally rather than having to transport hundreds of film canisters in large trucks.

Definition: integration

Vertical: When a company doesn't try any new foods and just eats stuff from the same industry and production.

Horizontal: When a company desides to eat something new and branches out to other industries to widen their pallet (market share and profit)

Disney is a big fat example of bothum as they own companies in the filom production proccess such as Pixar but also owns walt disney parks a completly different busines from film

Marketing

The jungle book old version was marketed in a couple of different ways
There were film posters
There was a theatrical trailer
And there would of been promotional material at their various themeparks.

Changes in production and distribution Since 1960s

Distribution has changed massively since the 1960s. Using both the new and old jungle book we can see these changes For example, In the 1960s despite the rise of TV if you wanted to watch the jungle book you had to go to the cinema. Disney did this so that the feeling of watching a disney film was never lost on the audience and it would create a sence of nostalgia that could be profited on later.(which they did as the film was rereleased every 10 years). A couple of years ago the films had become less exclusive as the jungle book along side other were released on DVD form multiple times, this was a major change in the distribution of film as they became more accessable however they were still semi-exclusive as you had to own the dvd and something to play it on which most people did but not everyone. In the currant time if you want to watch the jungle book the best and most common way is streaming through disney plus which is a widely accesable platform that a large amount of disneys TA will have as it offers a lot more that just Dinsey products due to Disneys conglmeracy.

13/12/23

pre-production; Everything that comes before the physical making of the film ,writing, pitching ,gathering investors

Production:

Going to the cinema in the 60s:
There was one screen in each cinema, people could do the smoke, Most films were American, the only video media with colour, And there was intermissions `

The jungle book big monkey edition: context

Directed by JON FAVREAU
PRODUCED BY WALT DISNEY STUDIOS

Production
Has an estimated budget of 175 million
This covered all the luxury costs (above the line) which include creative talents, directors, and voice actors
and basic costs that are needed to make the film

In the decade Disney had 2 expensive big films absolutely flop. So they chose the jungle book as it basically had a secure audience.

Disney (the company) gave Jon the ability to experiment with the concept in order to create a visual marvel that would appeal in the global market

This film was a live action CGI film. The CGI aspects Were created on computers by MPC A british digital effects house. The out sourcing was very different from 60s disney

The animals designed to look realistic opposed to cute and cuddly in order to attract an older audience.

The Rapid production of new film tech (proliferation ) meant that movies like the jungle book could look at amazing as it did.
the closing sequence mimics the opening of the first using the same book from the Disney archives

This film demonstrated Disney's willingness and ability to be a market leader when it comes to new technologies. It's what they do, they understands potentail synergy and innovates it

Distribution
The distribution was handled by Walt Disney studio motion pictures which handled the global release of the films and the marketing and promotion.
It released in 70 different countries
It was one of the first films to use dolby vison 3D
In north America In opening week it made 103.6 million big ones and then went on to grossed OVER 966 million

Marketing

Before the film reaches marketing film distributors get their hands on it to make sure that the material
is appropriate for the marketing.

Mr Favreau Appeared at a disney fan convntion and Showed sneak peek footage of the film and
the kid he kidnapped to play the child. And gave out posters

Big disey used bloggers and news sites on entertainment to speak about the sophisticated filming techs used by favreau in order to spread good news.

The first trailer foucused on the intense and scary parts of the film in order to attrack a teenage audience as they tend to influence younger siblings.

Jibsney posted photos of the characters along side their voice actors so that adults could see them and go "gee golly if Idris elba is in the film i better scedadle and take my entire extended family"

Traditionaly the disney brand appeals more to women. disney didn't want this so they mentrioned their products like Pierats of the Crab and Stork wars which have mainly male audiences.

They released a snapchat filter that turned you into Kaa
They drip fed info on the film using their socials to teasers

They released their own merchandise and gave licensing to other companies to make merch on their behalf.

There was a website that let you explore the jungle of the book and a 360 facebook video that tried to sell the immersive world thay had created

They had a superbowl trailer

film footage was shown in the disney theme parks as well as merch

Explain the change in hollywood marketing since the 1960s

In the 1960s movie studios would market their films in a couple of ways. The main form where trailers that played before other films and posters put up in the cinema.

ʒ When going into an answer make sure to talk about the production and distribution procceses themselves i.e transprtation of the film
And going into how the fact of how these processes are different in the context of disney and how that changes things

The Big changes to talk about are

Tech- simple

Intergration- Disney owns a lot of shit, they did and still do even more which definiatly have changed the P and D process

Marketing-

The role of the head- Compare the role of the CEO (walt) compared to bob Iger

Econmic contexts

Disney's Ownership of everything-  They could promote

2016- Use of free social media
The exisitance of streaming

The use of a outside Cgi company in order to be on top in tech and keep their status

The Change of Production and distribution since 1960s

Do
Tech- ditributio  and production-

intergration-

Marketing- Distribution

The production of distribution and production has changed drastically since the 1960s due to the proliferation of technoligy. The jungle book 1960s and 2016 are grate examples of the changes. In the 1960s film making was an arduous process as footage was contained on film which could only hold about 10 minuets of film, in the case of the jungle book was hand drawn scene by scene

The change in dineys busnies modle has changed the production and distribution of films. in the 1960s film production was mostly done in house with a smallish team, in the context of dinsey all the production of the jungle book 1960s was done in house by disneys animators however when it came to producing colour for the film disney had to outsource to technicolour for the top of line colour tech to renforce their super status so some of the profits went to them.
In 2016 hollywood films are commonly made by big budget studio's who own the whole means of production. Disney is a huge conglomerate that due to the proliferation of disneys horizontal and vertical intergation has much more than just film making companies. In the case of the jungle book all of the stages of production were done by properties owned by disney apart from the CGI which was done
by the MPC due to their top of the line CGI tech similarly the 1960s.

Minecraft- media edition

Understanding The Production of Minecraft

In the beginning a game developer will pitch an idea or present an alpha build to a publisher who may choose to fund the game

If these publishers like the concept of the game they will buy the game outright which includes all the permissions around the game. like the name and brand

The publisher takes on the responsibilities for the game and getting it made and out however they take a huge cut of the profit, Which tend to grose huge amounts of money and be called Triple AAA titles.

This works because Cultural industries Use vertical and horizontal intergration which increases profits as no money gets outsourced  and audiences grow- as hesmonhaigl said

Is this an issue
Yea, as Curran and seaton say capitalist industries pursue profit over everything which leads to media saturation as profit is sacrificed over artistic views
indie development is different as it results in more dynamic content.

So while selling out can result in more funding, quality control, and riding on the back of a giant's success, you loose a lot of the control a lot of the money and less of a presence in the development.

Minecrafts production

Was made by 1 dude (markus Pearson) at home in his spare time.
He released it in an alpha build and it sold 1m which is when i started the company Mojang
Notch didn't market the game. the publicity around it marketed it it's self
the game released in alpha and proceeded to get updates

26/1/23  Minecraft- initial development and features

every minecraft world in generated is unique with repeting patterns that you find, resources, biomes, and structures. for the time this was unique
There is a creative mode and survival
There are user made servers that have minigames

Initial Development

Minecraft was created by one guy, Markus 'notch' Persson, who was influenced by his favourite games
He didn't sellout his concept of a first person rpg that allowed creativity and kept to developing by himself as he wanted to make a game for gamers. This made it more appealing to the community as the small community could suggest changes and felt like they were part of the process.

It's initial 'release' didn't gather enough revenue to be viable and it was seen as a game for computer savvy people. However in 2011 Minecraft started to gain popularity and experienced a rapid exponential growth amongst the gaming community,
By now Notch had established Mojang
The game had no advertising budget however the online word of mouth, like the Penny Arcade web comic, was enough for Minecraft to make one million when it released in beta.
This shows the power of the people in the digital age.

In November 2011 before the game Official release it had 16 million users and 4 million purchases
This popularity allowed Minecraft to cut deals and release across different platforms like xbox, ps3, pc and in an exclusive deal with Sony there was a pocket edition for the Xperia
It did also release on IOS and android
These commercial deals allowed mojang to stay al=ffot and esttablished minecrafts place in the gaming industry

This was different from mainstream as regular games have BIG BALLS budgets WITH ADS and MONEY AND 40 PEOPLE WORKING ON it.  ANDO DONT RELY ON THE CRINGE INTERNET

Youtube was a huge part in Minecraft's popularity

 31/1/24   The distribution and Takeover

Minecraft was released on multitude of platforms, not just on pc and consoles but on mobline as well which opened up Minecraft to a more casual audience,
This showed off to other companies that Minecraft was a game that could go anywhere across platforms.

The digital distribution allowed it to reach a global audience for a lower cost as no money had to be spent on physical copies.
Mine craft took full advantage of cross media content, the release of pocket edition made it more accessible to the biggest market in gaming, children
The Cross media availability gave them more money and more feed back on the beta

The Acustion

2.5 billion
Minecraft was bought for 2.5 billion by Microsoft due to it's huge player base and potential. Minecraft's main player base is children and through this purchase it creates a huge amount of potential future customers for them.
Merch was made
They then made deals with sony and nintendo to get the game onto more platforms
The scale of updates have changed since being acquired being bigger and changing more but being less frequent
Microsoft slowly added things like micro transactions into the game in bedrock to allow user made content to make money.
Under the rule of Microsoft Minecraft became a top selling game

Merch and minecraft related products
Minecraft story mode
Minecraft legends
minecraft dungeons
Clothing
Usb wristband
toys/ including things like lego
Movie
animated series
Other stuff
 nightlight
backpack
books

2/2/24

Minecraft has always used it's community support, updates and additions have been based or built off community ideas and modifications to the games
Notch led the games production based on what the players wanted to see which made the game a more personal experience for the initial community

Fans where worried that this takeover remove the personal aspect from the game as before Minecraft had a face being notch and mojang and microsoft is a large soulless company which aren't known for their relation with customers

A Fandom Is a community that is based off the enjoyment of a media text or aspect of a text. A fandom is an example of participartoy culture as they are influenced to show off their love for a text in some way, this turns the audience into a prosumer who both consumes and creates,

These media texts that spawn these Fandoms are called spreadable media opposed from viral as they are able to be taken and reporposed.

Minecrafts success is partly due to a fandom being created and becoming prosumers as people took it apon themselves to create video's and channles to show off the game.
Such as people like Stampylongnose and DanTDM who created massive channels based off creating minecraft content

Others chose to mod the game and add what they wanted to see in the game.
Popular mods included things like Twillght forest that added a slew of new content to the game and later people packaged these mods together into mod packs like Feed the Beast.

Some people made massively online servers that joined people together
Like The hive and highpixel which allowed people to play Prosumer made Minigames

Microsoft Encouraged this participtory culture
They ran comventions like minecon
They started the Minecraft mob vote
Q and A with the developers was ran

Minecraft's widespread success had a lot to with it's audience. When Minecraft first became publicly available it immediately captured the hearts of it's fans, so much so that this passion fuelled the audience to become prosumers and create their own content based of Minecraft. They could do this due to the fairly new platform youtube which allowed people to create video's of their time in Minecraft and upload it for people to see, Some examples of this are Stampylongnose and DanTDM who created stories through Minecraft that appealed to people and influenced them to buy the game. This turned minefcraft into one of the first examples of spreadable media as the game was shown far and wide through new media.
The Fandom didn't just create video's, some people made mods to the game that added new content

Minecraft VR- You could see minecraft

Minecraft education edition. gets kids interested in science through the medium of Minecraft which appealed to kids a lot. This again showed the scope that Minecraft could cover as not only being s game that appeals to hard core and casual markets but also as a tool for things like education and artistic expression.

7/2/23

Digitally convergent media- A product or media text that can be accessed across a range of platforms.

Phones and Game consoles are digitally convergent devices as you can do many different things such as play games, watch movies and tv or on phones create content. They allow you to access and experience many types of content.

Minecraft heavily relied on digital convergence, It's wide spread accessibility on both consoles and mobile allowed both hardcore and causal gamers to discover and enjoy the game. The reacent convergence of youtube and smartphones resulting in the youtube app also made video content on Minecraft easily accessible exposing it to more people.

Traditionally game marketing is big with Trailers, posters, billboards, Press marketing, spots in game conventions, celebrity endorsements.

Minecraft had none of this, in the beginning mojang worked off the exposer their game was getting through the press and word off mouth, people would play the game and talk about it to their friends, share their play through online and some like penny arcade made their own content about the game out out passion. Notch had an active presence in Minecraft's community which really appealed to people as people would make suggestions for the game and take them in and add them in. This created a more personal relationship between the player and the producer that allured people into the game. It felt like they were part of the process.
Other examples are people like stampylongnose who created years long series on their adventures in the game, which reached and influenced hundreds of thousands of people to play the game

Another thing that minecraft did different from other games is that it added mod support, Meaning it was easy for people to create their own content and distribute it. This was un like anything at the time, game companies then and now are incredibly stingy with their code.

Much like disney Minecraft make a point to use new technologies as soon as they can. When Vr became a craze Minecraft's released a Vr port. More Recently they have incorportated Nivida's RTX technology to give the game more realistic lighting.

Realms was a service released in 2013 and for 8$ a month you could access a slew of marketplace content that is added on every month. The Big selling point is you can create a server that allows 10 of your friends to play on that world even if you aren't hosting much like the servers you could run in java.

Minecraft: Audience Appeal and Demographics

A poll on age recently documented that 86% of Minecraft under 30 player base where majority 15-21 with 2 22%s being under and above that.

Minecraft appeals to such a wide range due it it being fuelled by the players creativity, you can do what ever you want so the game doesn't cater to certain demographics.

The different modes available in the game do cater to different genres. The existence of survival and creative modes appeals to different parts of each age group.

It has no language barriers as theres no dialogue, just names of items

There is nothing about the core gameplay appeals to a certain gender or demographics as it's so open ended.

Minecraft has a huge Prosumer audience who use Minecraft to create other content or Ideas that centres around the game.

They make their own game modes like skyblock which adds even more content

This content is appealing to the wider audience because as Shirky says fan made is more appealing to an audience as it feels more personable

There are countless amounts of youtubers who create their own challenges and make the game fresh

Question Time

Minecraft has a simple consept

Minecraft is available on a range of plat forms

Minecraft cultivated a huge fandom

Video Games use a variety of tactics and techniques to attract and maintain wide audiences

Traditionally video games will target a specific target audience by choosing a specific concept that appeals to a certain audience. Minecraft did something a bit different as it chose a very simple concept of placing you in a world and allowing to do what ever you desire. This makes the game appealing to a huge range of people as their experience of the game is shaped by their imagination and not what the developer has envisioned. After obtaining this audience when a game releases players will get tired of what is given to them if they have done everything, so developers make extra downloadable content for the players to buy and this maintains that audience. Minecrafts open ended design didn't lead to this burnout however the developers at mojang still developed new content for Minecraft and released it for free. This gave the already huge amount of players even more to do and caused them to play for longer.

Video game producers will target wide audiences by releasing their content over a range of consoles like the Xbox and playstation this ensures that as many people will play the game as possible. Minecraft took this to the extreme, it was first available on pc when it first released and then in later years released on xbox and playstation consoles but not only did it release on gaming platforms but a version of the game was made for mobile and was one of the first propper game to be on mobile and opened up Minecraft to and even larger audience of not just hardcore gamers but people who may not own dedicated machines to play games on. You could argue that it made it more affordable as consoles are way more expensive than phones(at the time). In oder to keep these audiences Minecraft connected all of these players through cross play which allowed all these platforms to inter mingle and have even more fun with friends who may of been unable to join.

Video games will rely on their fans to create publicity for their games as people who like a series will speak to their friends about it and thanks to media forms post and spread the word potentially around the world. Minecraft Cultivated this die hard fanbase back in their orginal days as the main developer Notch was very active in minecrafts fan spaces even talking to fans about what the game needed, Notch took these suggestions, Such as horses which started as a fan mod, and implemented them into the game. Which caused players to create deep emotional connections to the game as their ideas made it in and caused them to go out to other communities and platforms such as youtube and create videos on the game, creating adventures for people to watch and gain interest. The theorist Shirky states that new media allows for the audience to become prosumers and create their own content for meda texts and this was true for minecraft as people made their own mods and content for the game which gave players more to do and maintained the non active players and the active players.

28/2/24  Minecraft Context

Evaluate how audience interaction influences production of games

Audiences will express their opinions on the game/ what they like what they don't and what they would add as gaming has created a gaming subculture of which 'gamers' discuss their opinions and ideas. In the case of minecraft this ongoing audience interaction was seen and taken into by the creator Markus Persson, not only did he acknowledge these points but there are many cases of the creator adding these suggestions into the final game, for example someone made a horse mod for minecraft and later horses were added. This impacted the production of minecraft in ways not invisionded by notch but by the ongoing audience interaction at the time.

New media allows for people to become prosumers- Minecraft players turned into content creators in terms of modding- This active interaction of content creation prompted minecraft to create 2 editions- a streamlined bedrock where user content can be found and bought- and java edition that can be openly changed and modded to your hearts content- Further more an API was created to assist with modding

Audiences use new media to share media- Youtubers created channles based around playing minecraft ( DANTDM- STAMPYLONGNOSE) - their stories and adventures through minecraft captured millions- this elevated minecrafts fanbase from small to exponentially huge- The scale of the fanbase was a direct reason for minecraft reaching out to many different platforms to get the game bought by these many fans cultivated by the youtube commuinity- Minecraft content pioneered the relatively new technologies of social media at the time

Explain the impact of digitally convergent media on the distribution and consumption of video games

It was an alternative to the BBc's radio 2 and 4 which were very different and still are from 1. the higher the number the older the generation it appeals to

It came at the request of the government as they banned pirate radio, these scurvy dogs broadcasted young and new popular music, The radio one came to fill this obvious
gap and cut down on the the frequency plunderers. The pirate are the revolutionary army, the BBC are the straw hats and the government is the government

The BBC

yo yo yo

A public service Broadcast means their in it for the people and not for the dough,
This means that the BBcs content needs to be impartial but voice the opinions of the people.  ( the lack of the pursuit of profit leads to aurgeably better and more interesting content)

Da BBc has a reemit that they gadda meet and will be held acountable by the big man if they don't

They cant afford a decline in quality however as it could tarnish the Brand

They can afford to run some niche shows as they have the big money, also big show to draw in audience

PSB remit Steps on its own foot, It wants to be the thing for the few and the many but can you do both? In choosing stories they have to decide what needs to be seen based of what will get ratings which adds a bais to the news.

Radio 1 breakfast show notes

This was a tictok made to show off the section where dua did a lipa

The whole thing is available  on the BBC website and the sounds app

The BBC and it's Partial impartiality

The BBC has to remain impartial which is one of the reasons for being one of the most accreditied news sources in the world. However having to be impartial all the time has stunted BBC reporters as in times where there has been a definate 'bad side' to and arugement they have had to still argue both sides which can paint a situation completly differen't to reality

Such as when Brexit was happening they found overwhelming opinions from economists that it was bad but 1 saying it was good,

Due to their impartiality they had to report the two weights as being the same, this could mislead people who only look to the BBC

Radio Show-
Engaging- Unique sections for each hour, Audience are an integral part of the show, greg james is an fun and uplifting host

High quality- have the ability to get talent like Dua Lipa on- on site recording of the event shows money investment

Socail Action- Greg J ames champions comic reliefe through the whole thing

BBC Public purposes

1. To provide impatial news to help people to engage with and understand the world

The Breakfast show has a news round section CALLED NEWS BEAT that gives breif updoots on both soft and hard topics- Having a mix of these topics makes it interesting and informative to the audience.
The News sections are fast as to not loose peoples interest
They Inlude many news stories that benfit the people, appeals to TA and younger people tend to be more socialist

3. To show the most creative and high quality and distinctive content for audience-
On our episode there was a section on bring Dua lips back to her primary school to make her do the only thing she hasn't accomplished, get a part in the school play. This is widely appeals to the TA of radio 1 as the younger TA would know and like to know more about her due to the celebrity culture we have.-

Many quiz and game shows for the audience to engage with, either participating live or following along by themselves like people do in quiz shows on TV

The Impartiality of the BBC almost made Greg James to quit as he couldn't report on the happenings at downing street
